F-35B 의 함상 운용 테스트가 정확하게는 작전 테스트가 아니었답니다.

The event was not an operational test, though, in either a formal or an informal sense of the term.

그 시험은 정상적인 작전 테스트는 아니었답니다. 

Furthermore, it did not- and could not-demonstrate that the Block 2B F-35B is operationally effective or suitable for use in any type of limited combat operation, or that it is ready for real-world operational deployments, given the way the event was structured.

That said, the event did provide an opportunity for the Marine Corps to conduct useful training, and provided experience for the Marines assigned to F-35B units and for the amphibious Navy. 

In particular, by providing initial exposure for squadron ground personnel to the maintenance and operations of the F-35B at sea, and initial exposure for the ship's personnel to the aircraft and its logistical and operational characteristics, the event served to highlight a number of issues - especially aircraft shipboard integration and maintainability challenges - that were important to identify before the aircraft's first operational deployment.

이 시험은 F-35B를 처음 배치하기 전 운용 및 유지 보수 경험을 제공하는 역할을 했을 뿐이라네요.

보고서 내용이 좀 많아 아직 읽는 중인데,

일단 시험에 반칙 요소가 많답니다. 다른 항공기들을 싣지 않고, 딸랑 F-35B랑 H-60 탐색구조기 3대만 싣고 했다네요.

DAS도 없었답니다. 나이트 비전 카메라는 5000피트 이상 고도로 사용을 제한했답니다.

레이더는 제한 모드 밖에 못 쓰고요.

이런 시스템은 블록3F 소프트웨어에서 가능할 거랍니다.

탄약도 안 실었답니다

이번 시험에서 계획했던 비행시간도 못 채웠다는군요.

공개된 보고서에 따르면 미해병대가 "훌륭했다" 고 추켜세우는 시험이 미작전평가센터와는 큰 견해 차이가 있다는 걸 알 수 있습니다.

앞으로도 언론보도에는 F-35가 무엇을 달성했느니 하는 기사들이 계속 나올 겁니다.

미해병대, 미공군, 록히드마틴 같은 직접적 이해 당사자들의 입을 통해서 말이죠.

우리는 가장 객관적인 기관의 평가를 귀담아 들을 필요가 있습니다.
