3.......Indian Ocean (August 7, 2006) ?An F/A-18E Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron Two Seven (VFA-27) launches from the number three catapult, while an EA-6B Prowler from Electronic Warfare Squadron One Three Six (VAQ-136) maneuvers over catapult two in preparation for launch aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk typically conducts flight operations over a 12-hour period each day, including both day and night missions. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier.

4.......The Spanish frigate FFG Canaras participates in a Missile exercise during the UNITAS Pacific Phase exercise. UNITAS is an annual exercise in the South American region. This year뭩 Pacific phase, hosted by Chile, includes navies from seven countries Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Spain and the United States. The exercise is designed to train each navy in a variety of maritime scenarios, with each operating as a component of the multinational force.
