2.Flak Filled Skies---As U. S. Eighth Air Force B-17 Flying Fortresses invade Germany to attack oil targets at Merseburg, November 30th, hundreds of German anti-aircraft guns fill the skies with flak. Contrails streaming behind, a Fortress formation is seen surrounded by smudgy bursts, just below the horizon line. The white cloud is all that remains of a Fortress which was hit by flak, enroute to the target.
