Feb 18, 2006: The Belgian 3rd Para Battalion concentrated on Fighting in Build Up Area (FIBUA) and Mobile Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) during the live exercise part (LIVEX) of Eurocorps exercise Brilliant Ledger in the Bitche Camp training area (France). Brilliant Ledger is part of the preparation phase of the Land Component (LC) of the NATO Response Force 7 (NRF7) and gathered 3000 military from 17 nations from 18-28th February 2006. NRF7 will be ready to deploy within 5 days notice in the second semester of 2006. The Belgian 3rd Para also provided “opposing forces” for the training of four other battle groups exercising in Bitche. |
18-02-2006 The German Jaeger Bataillon 292 concentrated on riot control during the live exercise part (LIVEX) of Eurocorps exercise Brilliant Ledger in the Bitche Camp training area (France). Brilliant Ledger is part of the preparation phase of the Land Component (LC) of the NATO Response Force 7 (NRF7) and gathered 3000 military from 17 nations from 18-28th February 2006. NRF7 will be ready to deploy within 5 days notice in the second semester of 2006. The Belgian 3rd Para provided the “opposing forces” for the riot control training. |
The German Panzer Artillerie Bataillon 295 set up a checkpoint and concentrated on checkpoint activities during the live exercise part (LIVEX) of Eurocorps exercise Brilliant Ledger in the Bitche Camp training area (France). A Latvian EOD team was in standby to take care of any unexploded devices. Brilliant Ledger is part of the preparation phase of the Land Component (LC) of the NATO Response Force 7 (NRF7) and gathered 3000 military from 17 nations from 18-28th February 2006. NRF7 will be ready to deploy within 5 days notice in the second semester of 2006. |
18-02-2006 The 110 Regiment d’Infanterie concentrated on seizing a crossing area of lake Haspelschiedt during the live exercise part (LIVEX) of Eurocorps exercise Brilliant Ledger in the Bitche Camp training area (France). Brilliant Ledger is part of the preparation phase of the Land Component (LC) of the NATO Response Force 7 (NRF7) and gathered 3000 military from 17 nations from 18-28th February 2006. NRF7 will be ready to deploy within 5 days notice in the second semester of 2006. A Belgian Medevac helicopter A109 was called in to evacuate a wounded soldier. |
The Spanish 1/6 SABOYA set up a camp for refugees and displaced people. They concentrated on training the activation and protection of this camp during the live exercise part (LIVEX) of Eurocorps exercise Brilliant Ledger in the Bitche Camp training area Brilliant Ledger is part of the preparation phase of the Land Component (LC) of the NATO Response Force 7 (NRF7) and gathered 3000 military from 17 nations from 18-28th February 2006. NRF7 will be ready to deploy within 5 days notice in the second semester of 2006. When “opposing forces” of the Belgian 3rd Para attacked the camp, the Spanish unit’s Quick Reaction Force reacted using one of their Pizarro tanks. |
