The SIKA combat vehicle provides stealthy, all-weather reconnaissance and attack capability previously unavailable in ground vehicles. With successful performance at field trials in Fort Carson, Colorado, the vehicle, developed by SIKA International (a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems), proved it is ready now to meet initial requirements of the Future Combat System for the U.S. Army's Objective Force.

The SIKA vehicle was developed through a collaborative program between the United Kingdom and the United States known as TRACER/FSCS. The U.K. Tactical Reconnaissance Armored Combat Equipment Requirement (TRACER) and the U.S. Future Scout and Cavalry System (FSCS) both specified a modern, C-130 deployable, survivable, state-of-the-art reconnaissance vehicle. The joint TRACER/FSCS program was designed to achieve first unit equipped in 2008.

At the field trials, the SIKA combat vehicle demonstrated many leap-ahead capabilities, including an advanced sensor system capable of rapid wide-area search, on-the-move operation, and long-range identification with an elevated mast. Live video images from the mast-mounted sensor system, known as Snake Eyes¢ç, are transmitted via satellite to commanders who are able to make quick, well-informed tactical decisions.

The system's integration and packaging design enhances the sensor suite with a robust "plug-and-play" C4I architecture, creating an efficient and effective war-fighting environment for the U.S. and U.K. armies. The system is designed for soldier mission effectiveness and comfort, with a smooth ride over rough terrain. Design modularity and rapid 'pit-stop'-like maintenance keep the SIKA vehicle in action and allow easy field repairs.
