러시아의 2세대 핵잠수함으로 세인트 페테르스부르그에 위치한 루빈 중앙해상설계국(SKB-18)이 설계했으며, 1964년부터 1974년까지 구소련은 사정거리 3,000 km의 핵탄도미사일 16기를 탑재한 총 34척의 667 A 양키(Yankee)급 핵잠수함을 건조했습니다.
현재 거의 퇴역한 것으로 알려져 있습니다..
