Kaman Super Seasprite
formed in 1945 as kaman aircraft corporation. kaman aerospace corporation has diversified from a specialist helicopter manufacturer to r&d and component supplier to f-14, a-6, f-22, b-1, c17 and v-22 programmes. includes wing supply, reverse thrusters and other components for boeing and the nasa space shuttle. produced the famous h-43 huskie with an impressive safety record based on synchronised, contra-rotating and interlocking rotor configuration, advanced rotor control, composite material and fabrication culiminating in the 101 rotor system used in the sh-2g super seasprite.

plans announced in 1985 to provide an improved version of the kaman sh-2 seasprite, mainly for the us export market (initially for south korea and taiwan). by 2001, airframes were in use in australia, egypt, new zealand and poland. the sh-3g super seasprite has improved twin ge t700-ge-401 turboshaft engines.


Royal australian navy Used 11 airframes from 2001 to present
Initial order for 11 SH-3G(A) Super Seasprites produced ex US Navy machines for use in the Anti-Surface Warfare role. Equipped with twin GE T700-GE-401 turboshafts, the airframes also feature a Litton Integrated Tactcal Avionics System, Forward-looking IR and the Penguin anti-ship missile. Operate from the ANZAC Class Frigates (FFH) HMAS Anzac (150), HMAS Arunta (151), HMAS Warramunga (152), HMAS Stuart (153) and HMAS Parramatta (154).
First SH-2G provisionally accepted by RAN at Nowra on 18 Oct 2003, well behind schedule due to problems integrating the bespoke combat mission software with the radar, datalink and Penguin missile.

805 squadron (2001 to present) Originally raised as a Royal Navy unit, 805 Squadron was handed over to the Royal Australian Navy on 28 Aug 1948. Fixed wing operations included Sea Fury between 1948 and 1958, Venoms between 1958 and 1968 and A-4G Skyhawks between 1968 and 1982. Rotary wing operations commenced in Jan 2001 with the Kaman SH-2G(A) Seasprite. Shore base at Nowra (YSNW), with Ships' Flights on ANZAC Class Frigates.
