1. Hornet in Korea : Not
1980 년대 한국은
차세대 전투기선종 사업을 벌렸다.
호넷 type C가 1989년 12월 최종 낙찰기종이 됐었다.
호넷은 한국 공군에서 실전운용중인 type A 팰컨에 비해
낳은 성능을 보여줬었다.
쌍발기로서, 해양전투 작전시 대전함전을 치룰수 있었는데.
한국정부는 악천후상에서 팰컨보다 월등한 성능차를 보여줬었다고
인정했었는데. 악천후속에서, 중무장한뒤에도...
이때 호넷은 FLIR 를 장착했었고. 북한의 AN-2 ( North Korea's fleet
of anthonov An-2 fabric-covered biplanes: 레이다 피탐이 낳지만 적외선
감식으로는 적절한 색출이 가능..) 에 적절한 대응수단으로 인식했었다. 또한
북한측의 미그 29 에 공대공 임무에서도 16 을 앞서는 것으로 생각했었다.
120대의 호넷이 주문되었고, 원생산량(주문량) .
한국측에 제공될 초도분 12 대가 이미 맥도널드사측에서 제조되고 있었다.
삼성의 사천 항공 공장에서 36기의 호넷(들)이 조립되고 있었다.
최종 72대분은 면허생산(?: manufactured from scratch under lincense )
을 통해서 삼성측에서...
27 대분의 (27 기의 엔진? : 27 F404-GE-402 터보팬) 은 General Eletric 측
에서 공급되었다. 삼성측은 10기의 (제너럴 일레트릭 사의 부품을 ) 조립하였다.
144대는 한국에서 최종 제작중이었다.
하지만 1991년 한국측에서 물가상승에 의한 주문수요량 감소로, 최초 주문가에
비해 최대 1/2 수준으로 감소.
1991년 3월 한국정부 측에서는 경쟁기종의 제너럴 일렉트릭사의 팰컨 type C 로
선회를 하게된다. 호넷건 계약은 12 기(들)의 팰컨(들)과 삼성측에 제공된 호넷(들)의 부품 조립
을 완료하는식으로 대체 되었습니다.
한국공군은 40대의 팰컨(들)이 이미 운영중이였다.
2. Hornet For NASA 2000 년 9월 1일 reversioned; super crusing, thrust vectoring scheme F22 (supposed)
HARV
1980년대 중반,( 기존 F-104 Starfighers 대신한) AOA (Angle of attack) 적응도를
검사해보려고, 호넷 type B를 구매했었다.
HARV ( High Angle of Attack Research Vehicle ) 는
non-V/STOL ( non vertical/ Short take off or Landing :? ) 이 아닌 기체의
기동성 향상 시험을 위해 진행됐었습니다.
외부 연소 노즐( external exhaust nozzle ) 이 제거된상태로, 아음속(subsonic )
수준에서 실험.
사이드와인드 측에 카메라 포드를 장착해놓고, 전방동체부에서 발생되는 기류를
촬영. 광택없는 검은색 기체에 붉은색 분말 도료의 동체표면의 흐름을 그것으로 찍었다는...
70 AOA 를 달성하고, High roll rates can be achieved at 65 degree(AOA )
F18HARV 이 그렇고, F/A-18 이 High roll rate 40 도였다.
3. No Hornets for Thailand 2000.04.17 reversioned
1996년 대만 정부는 FMS ( Foreign Military Sales ) 상에
호넷 type C(4), type D(4) 구매 계약에 합의.
AGM-84 하푼:대함미사일, AIM120-AMRAAM 을 1999년 10월
에 인도 하기로 약정.
1990년대 후반 아시아 외환 위기로 대만측이 보잉사측의 제작중인
기체를 해외에 판매하려는 것에 대해 미 해병대측에서 야간용 호넷(
Night Attack F/A-18D ) 로 개조 구매했습니다.
Northrop F-5E/F 타이거(기체)(들)의 절반을 이스라엘 Elbit 시스템사로
성능개량시행.

The Su-27 is somewhere between the Eagle and the Viper. It is far superior to the Mig-29, and actually has a chance of holding its own in combat with an F-16, provided that the American pilot is flying the Sukhoi.
There is NO technological substitute for a well trained pilot.
I hear that a certain Australian group won an international bomb competition recently with their F-18's. Rock on to the planes with the Kangaroo roundels!
To you British folks out there;
congratulations on finally convincing your government to buy a true Air to air capable fighter. Sounds like your pilots are getting a winner.
Condolences to the Royal Navy. But I think the JSF will definetly be superior to the Harrier. Though I don't disagree with the previous poster that the Typhoon would make a good carrier ship.
