The Special Operations Peculiar Modification (SOPMOD) M14 conversion was designed by Mike Rock under contract of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSW-Crane) for Special Operations deployment. This compact package provides the user with improved terminal ballistics of the 7.62mm NATO cartridge while maintaining a compact rugged profile. The 7.62mm NATO also provides for increased range over the 5.56mm NATO.

Utilizing a redesigned gas system, the carbine conversion can be manufactured with 12”, 14”, and 16” barrels. The carbine can be manufactured in several variations to meet the user’s weight and accuracy requirements.

Equipped with a multi-position butt stock made from bar-stock, this material resists wear and cracking common to the M14 and M16 designs. The stock improves accuracy and performance in high humidity and rain. The stock minimizes the hazard of snagging and provides for easier cleaning and maintenance. The M14 SOPMOD conversion decreases the life cycle cost of the M14.

Military standard 1913 rails are used to provide improved mounting flexibility and accommodation of all standard and special operations accessories. The top rail improves compatibility with night vision devices. Users can custom-configure the carbine to meet specific mission needs.

The ROCK SOPMOD M14 conversion updates aging technology and addresses shortcomings in current SOCOM rifles and carbines. It improves operational suitability of the 7.62mm in rifle/carbine configuration. The design reduces the size of the M14 and increases its reliability, maintainability, durability and accuracy.

The TROY SOPMOD Deployment Case uses closed cell foam that is water jet cut to fit the SOPMOD M14 with 8 magazines, suppressor and general accessory compartment. They are Taupe colored (desert brown) and in stock.
