록히드마틴 PAC-3 MSE 미사일 요격시험 성공
뉴멕시코 화이트샌즈 미사일 사격장, 3월 17일 – 록히드마틴의 개량형PAC-3 MSE(Missile Segment Enhancement•미사일 부분개량)이 전술 탄도 미사일 표적을 성공적으로 공격 및 요격했다.
록히드마틴은 뉴멕시코주 화이트샌즈 미사일 사격장에서 미 육군 주도 미사일 시험의 일환으로
PAC-3 MSE 미사일의 전술탄도미사일 표적 요격 시험을 진행했다.
록히드마틴 미사일 화력 통제사(Missile and Fire Control)의 스콧 아놀드(Scott Arnold) PAC-3 프로그램 부사장은
“PAC-3 MSE는 지속적으로 신뢰성과 직접타격(hit-to-kill) 역량을 입증하고 있다”며,
“성능이 향상 된
MSE는 현재 및 진화 되는 위협에 대응 할 수 있는 필요한 역량을 군에게 제공한다”고 말했다.
PAC-3 미사일은 직접타격 기술을 바탕으로 전술탄도미사일, 순항 미사일,
전투기 등 근접해오는 위협을 대응 할 수 있는 고속 요격체 미사일이다.
실전 입증 된
PAC-3 미사일에 기반해 성능을 개량한
PAC-3 MSE 미사일은 더 확장 된 이중 펄스 로켓 추진기관과 더 큰 조종날개 그리고 개선 된 지원 시스템을 갖추었다.
또한 사정거리가 두 배 가량 증가했고 미사일 위협에 대한 방어역량을 크게 향상시켰다

SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M., March 17, 2016 – A Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) PAC-3
Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) missile successfully detected, tracked
and intercepted a tactical ballistic missile (TBM) target today at White Sands
Missile Range, New Mexico, as part of a U.S. Army-led flight test.
“The PAC-3 MSE continues to
demonstrate its reliability and hit-to-kill capability,” said Scott Arnold,
vice president of PAC-3 programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
“The enhancements of the MSE will provide the warfighter with the tools needed
to defend against current and evolving threats.”
The
PAC-3 Missile is a high-velocity interceptor that uses hit-to-kill technology
to defend against incoming threats, including TBMs, cruise missiles and
aircraft.
Building
on the battle-proven PAC-3 missile, the PAC-3 MSE brings a larger, dual-pulse
solid rocket motor, larger control fins and an upgraded support system. These
enhancements nearly double the missile’s reach, and dramatically improve
performance against missile threats.
