록히드마틴, T-50A 고등비행 훈련 (APT) 시설 완공 축하

T-50A 관계자들이 미 공군의 고등 비행훈련 시설의 공식 오픈 리본 커팅을 진행 중이다.
사우스캐롤라이나주 그린빌, 2016년 8월 16일 – 록히드마틴은 사우스캐롤라이나주 그린빌에 미 공군의 고등 비행훈련 (Advanced Pilot Training, APT) 시설 (주: 최종 조립생산 시설 및 훈련센터)을 공식 오픈하고 기념하는 리본 커팅 행사를 가졌다. 새로 개축된 이 시설은 T-50A 고등훈련기를 위한 지상기반 훈련체계 (Ground Based Training System), 최종 조립생산을 완료할 제작공구 및 생산장비, 그리고 비행운영 시설을 갖추게 된다.
T-50A는 리스크가 낮으며 준비되어 있는 비행훈련기다. 오늘날 100대 이상의 T-50 훈련기가 비행하고 있으며 10만 비행시간 (계속 증가 중)을 달성했고 조종사 1,000명 이상이 훈련하는데 사용되었다.
록히드마틴 항공사 수석 부사장인 올랜도 카발로 (Orlando Carvalho)는 “T-50A의 탄생에 기여한 스컹크웍스 (Skunk Works)팀의 혁신에서부터 생산을 담당한 그린빌의 생산팀까지, 최고로 총명한 인력과 최신 기술력이 미 공군에 가장 낮은 리스크의 고성능 훈련 솔루션을 제공하기 위해 이곳에 집약되었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
T-50A는 록히드마틴과 한국항공우주산업 (KAI)에 의해 공동 개발되었다. 함께 제공될 T-50A 지상기반 훈련시스템은 동기화된 몰입도가 높은 지상기반 훈련 플랫폼을 제공하는 혁신적 기술들을 선보인다.
록히드마틴은 지난 6월 2일 한국에서 첫 T-50A 훈련기의 초도 비행시험을 성공리에 마쳤고 7월 26일에 두 번째 초도 비행시험을 완료했다.

The newly refurbished building will house the Ground Based Training System, as well as the tooling and manufacturing equipment to complete final assembly and flight operations for the T-50A trainer aircraft.
“I want all of the enemies of America to understand that we are not looking for a fair fight. My goal is to have the overwhelming capability to deter those that would choose to go to war with us...they will lose and lose quickly. The T-50A is ready now and fits the need of the 21st century of the U.S. Air Force,” said U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.
The T-50A is low risk and ready now. It builds on the proven heritage of the T-50 with more than 100 T-50s flying today—100,000 flight hours and counting—and more than 1,000 pilots trained.
“From the innovation of our Skunk Works team in Palmdale, California – who brought this program to life – to the employees in Greenville – who will build the T-50A… the brightest minds and the latest technology have been brought together in this facility to provide the U.S. Air Force with a low risk, highly capable aircraft and training solution,” said Orlando Carvalho, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Executive Vice President.
The T-50A was developed jointly by Lockheed Martin and Korea Aerospace Industries. The accompanying T-50A Ground-Based Training System features innovative technologies that deliver an immersive, synchronized ground-based training platform.
Lockheed Martin completed the initial flight test of its first T-50A configured aircraft on June 2, 2016 and the initial flight of its second T-50A configured aircraft on July 26.
