Old story on how US military research and prototype projects are handled once the project is “no-go” by Pentagon.

 

 

Do you remember RAH-66 Comanche helicopter?

 

The project was canceled.

So, what happens to all the prototypes that were already built and tested, design drawings, computer simulations, machines to make parts?

 

It was an Army program.  So, the US Army takes possession of the prototype helicopters, and put everything else in big boxes, then store them in a big warehouse for a few years.  Then, depending on who runs the storage facility, those parts get “auctioned off”… for scrap metal prices.

 

With YF-23 project….once it was canceled, Northrop’s  YF-23 project supercomputer was boxed, stored for a few years, then was auctioned.  It turned out, the small scrap metal company that bought the computer was a new company that nobody knew much about.  The computer ended up in Chengdu.

    화랑님께서 어떤 분이신지는 곧 느끼시게 될 겁니다.

    헌데 화랑님께서 말씀하신 대로라면 저로서도 정말 좋겠습니다. 차라리 그런 내용이라면 미국에 대한 신뢰가 흔들리지는 않을테니까요. 헌데 제가 느끼기론 말씀하신 바와 다른 부분도 존재한다는 겁니다. 이 부분은 미국 내에서 따로 알아보시는 것이 좋을 듯 합니다. 차이나 루트가 따로 또 있습니다. AIPAC(이스라엘)과 비슷한...

    화랑님의 얘기는 참 놀라운 얘기네요. 이런 프로젝은 국가적으로 극비였을텐데 이것이 몇 년 후에는 경매처리된다니 관리상태가 그렇게 허술해같고서야... 뭐 얼마전에 로켓엔진이 쓰레기장에 버려졌다고 난리를 쳤었으니까 쩝... 우리도 이거 경매정보를 알아내서 기술을 합법적(?)으로 좀 받아와야 겠네요, 허허.

    화랑님 궁금해서 여쭤 보는데요 뭐하시는 분이신지요 ? 여기 비밀에서 화랑님 글을 반기시는 분들이 많던데 이유가 궁금해지네요 . 혹시 무슨 기관에 근무하시는지요 ? 아니시면 엔지니어 ? 제가 비밀 활동은 오래됐지만 다른 분들 의견을 관심같고 잘 살피지는 않아서요 .
